bondage glass

found blown glass, yarn, cement, sand, glitter / 2024.

bondage glass is an installation that I created as part of my senior thesis work exploring the tension of trans life in today's world. The blown glass evokes bodily forms and fluids easily associated with eroticism and sensuality. Suspended by simple crocheted webs, the glass hangs precariously above and around the viewer. Trans life itself is a constant creation of joy and simultaneously a perpetually dangerous experience. The shadows cast in all directions by each hanging object mirror the shadows of ourselves, our loved ones, and our ancestors which we may try to leave behind but always carry with us.
